Protech® OLIGO
The PROTECH OLIGO range is a line of special fertilizers, which incorporate in their composition trace elements or micronutrients that allow to correct the deficiency of the soil or the crops, in those elements.
The importance of micronutrients is more evident in intensive crops, as in that case the deficiency would not only affect the crop yield, but also product quality factors, which can impact on its market value.

Based on Liebig’s Law of the Minimum we can say that as far as plant growth is concerned, increasing the amount of the most abundant element does not increase plant growth. Only by increasing the amount of the most limiting nutrient (the most scarce) can plant growth be improved.
The absorption of oligoelements by the crop, in insufficient quantities, causes nutritional irregularities in the plant, accompanied by the so-called deficiency diseases, which are externalized in various ways (chlorosis, necrosis, deformation of the leaves, different coloring, etc.)
There are several causes that reduce the availability of micronutrients in the soil:
- Be in forms that cannot be assimilated by the plant (blocked).
- In high-yield intensive crops, microelement extractions are also higher.
- Tendency to use more and more concentrated fertilizers with fewer micronutrients versus less concentrated fertilizers that usually have more micronutrients.
- Less use of organic fertilizers (they present microelements in assimilable forms)
It is also important to emphasize that the excess of microelements is harmful, so a small amount incorporated in the fertilizer should arrive to correct certain deficiencies or needs of the crop.
Advantages
Corrects deficiencies that are limiting for crops
Production performance is not limited
Easier and cheaper application of micronutrients
OLIGO technology for the incorporation of the micronutrient
Homogeneous application limiting the excess by concentration
Allows fertilizing with fewer applications
