Protech® DMPP

The PROTECH N DMPP product range incorporates the nitrification inhibitor DMPP (3,4-dimethyl-1H-pyrazole phosphate) in all its fertilizers. This inhibitor is developed on the basis of a molecule with German technology, which is capable of temporarily inhibiting the nitrification of ammonium in the soil, leaving the nitrogen stabilized in the soil in an ammoniacal form (assimilable by the plant), avoiding the loss of nitrogen through washing and maximizing the yield of the fertilizer in the crop.

Nitrosomonas bacteria are responsible for producing the passage of ammoniacal nitrogen (NH4+) to nitrate (NO3-). The nitrate ion has a negative charge, so it is exposed to be leached or washed into the subway layers, where the roots of the crop will not be able to take advantage of it. The ammoniacal form, on the other hand, is retained more strongly in the clay-humic fraction of the soil, which has a negative charge.
Funcionamiento inhibidor enzima
The nitrification inhibitor DMPP acts in the soil by partially and specifically inhibiting nitrosomonas. It does not damage them, nor does it eliminate them, it only acts as a specific inhibitor of the nitrification process, decreasing the speed or quantity of ammoniacal nitrogen that is converted into nitrate. In this way, the Protech DMPP fertilizer range allows the presence of ammonium in the soil to be prolonged for a longer period of time, increasing the efficiency of nitrogen fertilization and improving the productive yield of the crop
With this technology, nitrification can be delayed by up to 10 weeks, so that the ammonia nitrogen remains stabilized in the soil, available for the crop.
